Frequently Asked Questions

  • Contact me as soon as you purchase your dress! I take a limited number of brides per month (by wedding date), and the April-October wedding season fills up quickly each year.

We will begin your fittings about 10-12 weeks before you wedding, so even if it’s too early to actually schedule your first fitting I will add you to my reservation list and I’ll reach out about four months before the wedding to get you scheduled.

  • I schedule fittings on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons/early evenings. There are a limited number of 5:00pm appointments available each month.

All fittings are by appointment only in my private home studio in southeast Lincoln, NE. You will be given the exact address once your appointment is confirmed.

My home and studio are smoke-free. I have two small dogs, however they are kept out of the studio and are crated on a separate floor during fittings.

  • Just like the fit of your gown, the cost of your alterations is custom as well! Price depends on the style and construction of your gown and what alterations it needs for the perfect fit.

Bridal alterations range $500-1000+ for standard alterations (bodice take-in, straps shortened, bra cups added, hem, and bustle). Complicated structure, lace and beading covering seams, lace trim hems, horsehair braid hems, adding sleeves, redesigning necklines, and more will be on the higher end.

After your first fitting, I will go over your gown and pinned alterations in detail and send you a total estimate along with a deposit invoice for 50% of the total. The balance 50% (and the cost of any additional alterations requested after the first fitting) will be due at your final fitting before you take your gown home.

  • Along with your gown, please bring the shoes you’ll wear at the wedding. Also bring along any shapewear or petticoats you are thinking of wearing underneath your gown. If we are making sleeves, customizing your veil, etc bring those fabrics and trims along as well.

Please wear your hair up and off of your shoulders. If we’re not doing any alterations to your veil, you are welcome to bring it to your fitting to try on, but please take it back home with you.

  • Due to studio size and to keep the focus on the fitting, please limit guests to one other person over age 12. My studio has equipment and tools that can be dangerous to young children.

  • All brides will require a first and a final fitting to get the perfect fit. Some alterations will need additional fittings before the final fitting, especially in case of lace and/or beading that needs to be removed and replaced to access seams. Large resizes or customizations such as making and adding sleeves will also require additional fittings (generally 3-5 total). We will map out your alterations timeline at your first fitting and schedule follow-up fittings at that time.

  • Yes! We frequently customize gowns, including designing and adding sleeves, changing necklines, switching zipper backs to corsets, sewing on sashes and belts, adding or closing slits, adding linings, and many more.

Customization options depend on the design of your gown and may require you to order extra fabric and trim from the manufacturer. Please discuss your vision with your bridal shop consultant so they can help you get the materials you need! I am always happy to consult with you on your ideas as well.
